In the function of owner's representative on behalf of Prime Capital AG, TÜV SÜD is providing support in the realisation of the Nordlicht (Northern Lights) onshore wind farm near Tromsø, Norway. With 67 wind turbines supplied by Siemens Gamesa and an installed total capacity of 281.4 megawatts, Nordlicht is one of the largest onshore wind farms in Europe.
TÜV SÜD has provided support services for the investment and realisation process of the wind project since late 2016. Prime Capital's mandate covers technical due diligence, the review and negotiation of the technical aspects of the project contracts (including the development of innovative technical solutions that take into account the challenging conditions at the wind-farm site), technical project management during the negotiation and financing phases, tendering of technical operations management, support during the technical review carried out by the financing bank, and preparation of reports on wind energy potential and energy yield prediction.
“We are very pleased that Prime Capital has placed its trust in us by awarding us the contract for this challenging project”, says Andreas Schmid, Manager of the Nordlicht Project at TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH. “As owner's representative, we can contribute the full scope of our know-how and extensive experience to the successful realisation of the Nordlicht project.” The construction of the wind farm, which is scheduled for completion in 2019, is already under way. TÜV SÜD will also support the project during and up to completion of the construction phase. The company’s specific responsibilities include monitoring construction progress and quality and performance of acceptance testing of technical systems.
