Norwegian company Disruptive Technologies AS is this year's winner of the TÜV SÜD Innovation Award for Digitized Industries. The award was presented for the fourth time at the Smart Factory Innovation Forum, hosted by Munich Network and TÜV SÜD. Disruptive Technologies has developed highly robust minuscule wireless sensors which can be used in numerous industries. The TÜV SÜD Innovation Award for Digitized Industries carries EUR 6,000 in prize money and is presented to companies that have developed particularly promising Industry 4.0 Solutions.
“Disruptive Technologies has positioned itself as a high-performance, low-cost leader in the field of wireless sensor networks”, said Prof. Dr.-Ing. Axel Stepken, Chairman of the Board of Management TÜV SÜD AG. By developing these ultra-small sensors and the Sensing-as-a-Service business model based thereon, the company is contributing significantly to the progress of Industry 4.0.
The high-performance sensors made by Disruptive Technologies deliver deep insights into systems and will fundamentally change the process of operational decision-making in companies. Owing to their small size, robustness, extremely long battery life and ease of installation, the sensors can be used in a host of applications across various industries – from predictive maintenance, energy analysis and optimisation to the monitoring and management of infrastructure and buildings. “Excellent algorithms and analysis tools have been around for some time. Now our sensors deliver the data those tools require”, says Marian Kost, CSO of Disruptive Technologies. The company has already won 70 pilot customers and will launch highly scalable large-volume production of the sensors in the first half of 2018.
On behalf of the entire team at Disruptive Technology, Marian Kost thanked TÜV SÜD and Munich Network for the award and the recognition of their hard work which it reflects. Kost also commended the Smart Factory Innovation Forum for offering an excellent opportunity to build contacts between startups and established companies and to exchange ideas and experience about practice-focused solutions for advancing Industry 4.0.
Successful networking in the Smart Factory Innovation Forum
The presentation of the TÜV SÜD Innovation Award marked the conclusion and highlight of the Smart Factory Innovation Forum, hosted by Munich Network and TÜV SÜD on 17 October 2017. 44 startups from Europe and Israel had vied for the award. In addition to the decision of a high-calibre jury, the vote of the audience was taken into consideration in the evaluation of the applications. Held this year for the fourth time, the Smart Factory Innovation Forum offers startups the opportunity to network with established companies on the topic of Industry 4.0.
The presentation of the TÜV SÜD Innovation Award for Digitized Industries underlines TÜV SÜD’s own commitment in the field of Industry 4.0. Among other things the company offers comprehensive services for sealed cloud solutions, functional safety (functionality, reliability and interoperability), IT security (business and industry) and analytics (monitoring and big data).
