According to the German Insurance Association (Gesamtverband der Deutschen Versicherer, GDV), German motor insurers paid out more than 14 billion euros in third-party damage in 2016 – a significant increase of 4.5 percent year-on-year. Consequently, the opportunities for car dealerships to generate sales revenue from loss settlement and repairs are also on the rise. TÜV SÜD's Blue Button online platform ensures smooth processes, supporting car dealerships in gaining firm footholds in the repair management and loss settlement market. Repair management / loss settlement is only one of the topics addressed by TÜV SÜD at the IAA between 14 and 24 September in Frankfurt am Main. Further topics at TÜV SÜD's Stand D04 in Hall 8 include automated driving, electromobility and digital services.
The market is huge. Car policies add up to more than 25 billion euros of income for motor insurers every year. However, when it comes to loss settlement, insurance companies are tough negotiators. For successful negotiations, car dealerships need specially trained employees who are always up to date. However, small- and medium-sized companies will find it particularly difficult to secure expertise in this field. Offering customers the best possible assistance in loss settlement is time-consuming and requires skilful negotiations with insurance companies. In daily loss settlement, success for both sides – the customer and the repair shop – depends on the availability of current legal information and on assistance with the preparation of correspondence.
TÜV SÜD is a reliable third-party partner offering damage assessment reports by officially authorised motor-vehicle inspectors as well as a variety of other services. The technical service provider's new online platform, Blue Button, supports car dealerships and repair shops throughout the entire process, including communication with customers, insurance companies, car dealerships, officially authorised experts and lawyers. The platform coordinates, processes and documents all steps of repair management and loss settlement. “By using the standardised processes provided by Blue Button, car dealerships can offer their customers professional in-house loss settlement services. After all, the TÜV SÜD Octagon mark is also held in high esteem by insurance companies,” says Maximilian Küblbeck from TÜV SÜD.
By delivering these advantages, Blue Button ensures satisfied customers and orders for repair shops. Car repair shops and car dealerships with good repair management and loss settlement services are able to repair any car that can still be repaired. If the car dealership is skilful in its negotiations with the opposing insurance, cars that were involved in accidents are frequently repaired once more. This normally makes customers happy. “Most customers want to continue driving their old cars instead of changing to a new one immediately after an accident,” says Küblbeck.
TÜV SÜD's loss assessors operate independently from insurance companies. Via Blue Button, they support car dealerships and repair shops throughout Germany across all stages of repair management and loss settlement – from general consulting and independent damage assessment reports by our motor vehicle experts to recommending local lawyers if customers need direct legal assistance. Maximilian Küblbeck explains, “The advantages are clear as day –employee workload is reduced, any missing data can be provided, documents can be made available to lawyers online. In addition, all parties involved can access all data online at any time and track the status of processing.”
With Blue Button, car dealerships can carve out a position on the loss settlement market in the best possible manner. They can offer customers a full range of independent services and, above all, ensure legal compliance and optimise handling in the interests of their customers.
