TÜV SÜD America has made a significant investment in its RF and wireless testing services by adding a three metre EMC chamber for emissions and immunity testing to worldwide compliance specifications.
Part of the investment will see TÜV SÜD increase its transmitter testing capabilities up to 325 GHz, in anticipation of meeting the testing and certification requirements of the new 5G technologies.
The new chamber, located at TÜV SÜD America’s Mira Mesa, San Diego test laboratory, is in addition to an existing 10 metre EMC test chamber and extensive wireless test facilities at the Rancho Bernardo, San Diego test facility.
The expansion of TÜV SÜD’s capability will give manufacturers access to a one-stop compliance service, helping them to meet compliance requirements for the latest cutting edge technologies and achieve fast market access.
The significant investment in the Mira Mesa, San Diego site’s comprehensive RF testing facility, satisfies various global market requirements, including those of the U.S., Canada, and Europe, for products that include voice, data and voice-data combinations, as well as base stations which require RF spectrum management evaluation and approval.
TÜV SÜD is already one of the USA’s largest independent EMC testing and certification laboratories, performing EMC, RF/Wireless and safety compliance testing at its San Diego laboratories for many products including telecoms, information technology equipment and medical devices.
The San Diego laboratories are also one of the very few in the USA which combines testing, TCB Certifications, Notified Body approvals and International Compliance Management services. This helps customers keep up to date with rapidly changing regulations for individual countries, to gain access quickly to global markets. TÜV SÜD’s comprehensive understanding of the process also saves customers time and cost as tests are not unnecessarily duplicated for regional or country certifications.
