TÜV SÜD Zacta has significantly expanded its capabilities at its Yonezawa Testing centre by opening an additional 10-meter chamber for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing. This chamber is also equipped for specific absorption rate (SAR) testing for wireless devices, further enhancing the TÜV SÜD Zacta testing portfolio.
The additional EMC chamber is equipped with a 5 metre/3 metre dual turntable and is able to conduct testing on large industrial equipment or vehicles weighing up to 4 tonnes. With this expansion, TÜV SÜD will be one of the very few test laboratories to offer a battery of testing services from a single location – EMC testing, radio-frequency testing (including SAR testing), product safety testing, reliability testing and software evaluation.
A year and a half after its acquisition by TÜV SÜD, TÜV SÜD Zacta has also successfully completed a CBTL (CB Testing Laboratory) audit and is now a CB Scheme testing laboratory for international standards IEC 61010-1 and IEC 60950-1.
A key benefit for companies wishing to market their products in Japan is TÜV SÜD Zacta’s appointment as a certification body with a full scope under the Japan Radio Law. This complements the appointment of TÜV SÜD BABT, TÜV SÜD’s globally recognised certification body, as a conformity assessment body under the EU-Japan Mutual Recognition Agreement.
TÜV SÜD Zacta also has testing capability covering the circle PSE mark under Japan’s electric safety regulation. This is similar to the European CE marking as it follows a process of self-declaration. However, Zacta’s in-depth understanding of JIS (Japan Industrial Standards) provides vital support to overseas customers.
To take market leadership through local excellence, TÜV SÜD Japan is also considering further investment. One of its goals is to expand the CBTL product safety laboratory to become accredited under the PSE diamond mark scheme, which is mandatory for 115 electrical products that fall under Japan’s Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law (DENAN).
