TÜV SÜD has appointed Thomas Ring as a dedicated wireless and radio approvals expert in Germany to support the expansion of its Global Market Access (GMA) service.
Country-specific standards present the telecoms industry with the challenge of managing product compliance against diverse national requirements. The GMA service is a systematic process that accounts for these compliance differences, helping TÜV SÜD’s clients to streamline the export of products to multiple markets worldwide.
Thomas will lead the Wireless-GMA certification team in Germany, providing guidance to clients on the compliance requirements and approval strategy for over 150 countries, whilst ensuring that product testing is completed to the correct test standards. Thomas will also liaise with TÜV SÜD experts across the world, who have specialist regulatory knowledge in all industries which use wireless communication devices, to cost effectively coordinate and expedite product certification.
“The telecommunications industry is extremely competitive, with new wireless technologies developing rapidly worldwide. Through the GMA service, our certification team acts as a client’s international regulatory approvals department. We have the expertise and experience to minimise their time to market for new products, helping them remain competitive in this fast-moving sector.
“While we work directly with our European customers in their language, we have the advantage of our global network of experts who have strong working relationships with regulators and national certification bodies in key markets,” said Thomas.
The GMA service delivers one-stop compliance solutions for most wireless communications products, including telecoms network infrastructure equipment and mobile radio communications devices. Not only can TÜV SÜD’s global experts support clients in the telecoms industry, their regulatory knowledge also extends to the marine, aviation, defence and electronic consumer products markets.
TÜV SÜD’s GMA service is complemented by TÜV SÜD BABT, one of the world’s leading independent certification bodies for telecommunications, which certifies wireless products for the European Union, USA, Canada and Japan.
