As part of its ongoing effort to support the safety of food products throughout global supply chains, TÜV SÜD is pleased to announce the recent expansion of its certification body accreditation under the British Retail Consortium (BRC) food safety standards.
BRC’s suite of standards addresses the production, packaging, storage and distribution of safe food. In addition to its Global Standard for Food Safety, the BRC also publishes a Global Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials, a Global Standard for Storage and Distribution, and a Global Standard for Agents and Brokers. Each standard is built on the principles of clear, risk-based requirements, informative report formats and auditor competence.
Under its recently expanded certification authority, TÜV SÜD is now accredited to conduct certification audits in connection with all four BRC food safety standards. This expanded scope makes TÜV SÜD a single source for the certification of any party involved in the global production and distribution of food and food products, regardless of their location.
Food safety and quality systems standards developed by the BRC are the basis for some of the world’s leading certification programmes. To date, more than 23,000 certified suppliers operating in more than 123 countries have achieved certification in conjunction with one or more BRC global standards. And certification to BRC standards is widely recognised by suppliers and retailers as evidence of a producer’s commitment to bring safe food products to the marketplace.
