On 10 May 2017 Taiwan's Bureau of Energy, Ministry of Economic Affairs approved an announcement to establish minimum energy performance, labelling and inspection requirements for electric refrigerators and freezers. The announcement applies to electric refrigerators and freezers as defined in CNS 2062.
The energy efficiency label application procedures for manufacturers and importers is specified in the announcement. Before manufacturing or importing refrigerators and freezers, manufacturers and importers shall register the login accounts and password from the governing authority management system and then apply for the energy efficiency classification label by submitting the documents listed in Article 4. The central governing authority will define the products rate based on the energy efficiency testing report and the rating standard sheet provided in Annex 5.
The manufacturers or importers must affix the energy efficiency classification label on the product or alternatively put it in the product instructions. The label shall be affixed on the products for sale.
Manufacturers must report the previous year sales volume to the management system annually before the end of February.
These provisions will come into force on 1 January 2018.
