On 17 February 2017, the Thai Industrial Standard Institute adopted Standard TIS 1641-2552 for mandatory safety requirements of household electric portable appliances.
This applies to appliances that have a cooking function such as baking, roasting and grilling with rated voltage not more than 250V.
Below list some of the cooking appliances falling into the scope covered by this standard:
- Barbecues for indoor use,
- Contact grills,
- Food dehydrators,
- Raclette grills,
- Radiant grills,
- Rotary grills,
- Waffle irons,
- Griddles, and
- Raclette appliances
This mandatory standard will come into force on 17 August 2017.
