Innovative software tool for homologation wins this year's LUX Award
Every year, the LUX Award honors the creativity and innovative mindset of three colleagues from TÜV SÜD Auto Service. This year's winner is Martin Unterhauser from the Vehicle Homologation Department. He developed a new software tool for issuing technical reports making it more autonomous and user-friendly.
Every year, the LUX Award is assigned to three creative and innovative colleagues from TÜV SÜD Auto Service. The LUX Award honours outstanding ideas and was presented this year at Audi Museum in Ingolstadt on 30 June 2017.
This year's number one winner is Martin Unterhauser from the Vehicle Homologation Department. On his own, he painstakingly developed a software tool for the preparation of technical reports. The judges preferred the tool over numerous other ideas from TÜV SÜD's think tank for various reasons. For the first time the software tool of Martin Unterhauser successfully links the complex contents of technical report preparation with the technical possibilities of a programmable software tool. Users can now enter general details – e.g. on the manufacturer or vehicle type – in one template in a more user-friendly manner. Administrative aspects have been automated. The tool generates technical reports for the approval of agricultural and forestry vehicles more effectively and efficiently. In creating this tool, Martin Unterhauser has not only proven his technical expertise, he has also demonstrated his programming skills.
The software tool can be used by colleagues around the world and thus provides sustainable added value for connecting TÜV SÜD's global locations and ultimately also our customers. By using this software tool to prepare technical reports, our employees around the world can provide our customers with even more efficient services.
Martin Unterhauser's idea has initiated a comprehensive project which will have a positive impact both inside and outside the company. In addition, we continue to work intensively on optimising and automating the preparation of technical reports in further areas of type approval, such as type approval of systems and components.
