TÜV SÜD co-organises 2017 SAE-China Auto Testing Technology Annual Conference
TÜV SÜD co-organised with the Society of Automotive Engineers of China (“SAE-China”) and China Automotive Technology & Research Center (“CATARC”) and Tianjin Automotive Test Center (“TATC”) the “2nd SAE-China Auto Testing Technology Annual Conference & 2017 International Technical Summit of Auto Safety, Energy Saving and Intelligence”. Topics on current research situation and development direction of intelligent network connection, new energy technology, emissions and energy savings have been discussed.
Modernisation of the AP1 emission chassis dynamometer in line with the new regulations GTR 15 / WLTP and US CRF Part 1066
In spring 2016, refurbishment of the AP1 emission chassis dynamometer started at the emission laboratory in Heimsheim, Germany. The refurbishment went beyond mere modernisation. The emission chassis dynamometer was extended and aligned with the requirements of GTR 15 / WLTP and US CRF Part 1066 – the new regulations which now apply. The new test rig is now under operation, and thus virtually at the same time as the new regulations.
The future of mobility: Electrification - Connectivity - Autonomy
Transportation innovations such as autonomy, connectivity, electrification and shared mobility are already driving significant change in the automotive sector. The powerful combination of these mobility innovations will positively impact the quality of life for millions of people over the coming decades.
Under a joint U.S. DOT/NHTSA/SAE research programme, TÜV SÜD conducted tests on multiple xEVs models to assess and evaluate the potential effects of internal battery fires on the vehicles and their intended occupants. Especially they were concentrating on the safety of lithium-ion based rechargeable energy storage systems.
Non-destructive dynamic component testing for homologation purposes
At the beginning of November 2016, operations were officially launched at the DYCOT laboratory in Bezděčín. As with all TÜV SÜD Czech laboratories, tests are performed here either for the purpose of developing of vehicles and vehicle parts (verification tests, e.g. checking the conformity of production series), or for homologation (approval) tests.
Innovative software tool for homologation wins this year's LUX Award
Every year, the LUX Award honors the creativity and innovative mindset of three colleagues from TÜV SÜD Auto Service. This year's winner is Martin Unterhauser from the Vehicle Homologation Department. He developed a new software tool for issuing technical reports making it more autonomous and user-friendly.
New European in-vehicle emergency call system promises fewer road accident victims
In 2015 the Regulation (EU) 2015/758 of the European Parliament and of the Council, which defines type approval requirements for the deployment of the eCall in-vehicle system, based on e 112 emergency call services, came into effect. The installation of this automatic emergency call system will be mandatory in all new types of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles from April 2018.
Automotive Quality Management - The standard IATF 16949
