TÜV SÜD and DFKI develop “TÜV for Artificial Intelligence”
The German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and TÜV SÜD are launching a joint project to certify systems based on artificial intelligence (AI) used in autonomous driving and develop a ‘roadworthiness test’ for algorithms. To do so, the experts will explore the learning behaviours of AI systems with the aim of being able to control the systems’ reactions.
TÜV SÜD at the Automotive Testing Expo in Korea: Combining real and virtual testing for automated driving
TÜV SÜD is working intensively on the development of test methods for automated vehicles. At the Automotive Testing Expo Korea 2018 from 13 – 15 March, Dr Houssem Abdellatif, Head of Automated Driving and Driver Assistance Systems at TÜV SÜD, presented together with his Korean colleague Joon-Seok Oh methods of verifying the operational safety of these vehicles. Thereby, computer simulation needs to play a significant role in this verification.
Mercedes-Benz Korea receives certificates for the used car business in Korea from TÜV SÜD - the first of its kind in Korea
Mercedes-Benz Korea obtained the first certificates in the Korean market through a professional review of its used car business processes, from purchase and reconditioning, to sales from TÜV SÜD. Starting from four used car dealerships receiving certificates this year, Mercedes-Benz Korea is planning to complete the certification process of all dealerships by end of 2018.

DYCOT's ALIS test drive catapult is currently being tested to offer a unique solution
The globally unique ALIS equipment has been intensively developed since the middle of last year. It is a smart superstructure using the DYCOT (dynamic component testing) test laboratory's catapult for physical simulation of vehicle side impacts. Side impacts are tested in accordance with EuroNCAP.
TÜV SÜD investments into new EMC laboratory for the automotive industry
Hand in hand with the successful investments done in the automotive industry for the last two years e.g. the dynamic component testing (DYCOT) laboratory and passive safety testing laboratory in Czech Republic and in order to support further growth TÜV SÜD decided to strengthen and launch operations of a new testing lab for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) for the automotive industry in the laboratory in Mladá Boleslav in Czech Republic. New operations were launched in January 2018.
