What is climatic testing and why is it so important?
Technical devices and products are often exposed to climatic and mechanical stresses. Climatic influences primarily caused by temperature and humidity can affect the performance of electronic products, parts and components, or even cause their failure. But is has to be ensured that they work smoothly despite cold, heat, wetness and bad weather. Climatic testing thereby simulates the life cycle environments that are encountered by a product and ensures the product is in good condition and ise able to perform satisfactorily in its intended environments.

TÜV SÜD has a range of environmental chambers of different sizes and equipment and can thus accurately simulate the stresses imposed on your products in temperature and climatic tests.
The climatic chambers can fit items up to 6m x 5m x 4m with a temperature range of -65ºC to +200ºC and a rate of change of up to 10ºC per minute. Our chambers are capable of controlling humidity between 5% and saturation. This minimizes set up time by eliminating the need to switch between chambers for different tests. Every effort has been made to make the testing process easier for our customers with 60Hz, 400Hz, 415V and generator fed outlets available throughout the laboratory.
Our facilities allow us to meet the requirements of MIL STD 810, DEF STAN 00-35, RTCA DO160, BS EN 60068 to name but a few. Any other test which is within our capability can be added quickly through our flexible schedule, which is a rare privilege granted to us by our accrediting authority in the UK.
