TÜV SÜD supports medical devices industry in the Middle East

As a specialist in the international approval of medical devices, TÜV SÜD will present its services at the largest trade fair of the industry in the Middle East. At Arab Health, one of the world's leading trade fairs for medical technology and health, the experts from TÜV SÜD can be found in the German Pavilion (Stand ZB.31) between 23 and 26 January 2012. One of the key subjects will be the new regulations for placing medical devices on the Saudi Arabian market.

Support during design and development, certificates of conformity and certification of quality management systems –TÜV SÜD offers a wide range of services to the manufacturers and retailers of medical devices. "The medical devices and equipment sector is undergoing major internationalization", notes Norbert Stuiber, international approval expert at TÜV SÜD Product Service GmbH. "We support our clients in accessing all major economic regions." The TÜV SÜD experts are familiar with the details of approval worldwide, from Australia to Brazil, China or the Middle East. "While the countries of the Middle East are a lucrative market for medical devices, the regulatory requirements are becoming stricter", explains Stuiber. Together with his colleagues, he informs companies about the criteria they have to fulfil to place their products on the market in Dubai or the United Arab Emirates. In Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has established a new legal framework. Manufacturers and importers wishing to place their medical devices and equipment on the market there must comply with a new regulation. TÜV SÜD Product Service is registered with the SFDA as a Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) and is assigned to conduct the obligatory conformity assessment prior to market launch.

Another important subject in the international medical devices sector is cleanroom production. TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH supports companies in cleanroom manufacturing and offers a wide range of services –from project planning to certification and further training for qualified staff.
