TÜV SÜD Japan to offer radioactive contamination analysis services

To address the challenges and concerns faced by Japanese businesses in the wake of the accident at Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant, TÜV SÜD Japan has begun offering radioactive contamination measurement services from May 30th 2011.

The service of TÜV SÜD Japan, which includes the analysis of radionuclide such as I 131, Cs 134 and Cs 137, in food, water, bulk materials, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals products and more, aims to support manufacturers and suppliers monitor the radiation level of their facilities and products according to applicable requirements.

Radionuclide analysis is the latest in the range of services offered by TÜV SÜD targeted at addressing concerns of radioactive contamination in the Japanese supply chain. Since early April, TÜV SÜD Japan has been providing surface contamination measurement services as well as consultancy services for companies trying to establish their own measurement or decontamination procedures for inspections, and/or their own quality management systems.

TÜV SÜD Japan will be providing the service with the support of extensive knowledge and experience transfer from Germany, where TÜV SÜD has a solid track record in nuclear engineering and safety as well as radioactive measurement.
