TÜV SÜD, a global technical services provider, awarded an ACT certificate (Acceptance of Client’s Testing) to Samsung Electronics’ LED laboratory in recognition of quality and reliability of its automotive LED components testing. This confirms that the lab meets the TÜV SÜD-program requirements which are based on general certification and testing standards.
TÜV SÜD Korea held an ACT certificate award ceremony with Samsung Electronics’ LED Business Team at the headquarters of TÜV SÜD Korea Ltd. in Seoul, Korea, July 31. The event was attended by representatives from the companies including Volker Jesse, Head of Product Services and Sales at TÜV SÜD Korea, and Do-Suk Oh from the LED Business Team at Samsung Electronics.
Acceptance of Client’s Testing (ACT) is a program in which TÜV SÜD Product Service evaluates and authorizes a manufacturer’s facility to perform some parts of product safety testing based on TÜV SÜDs evaluation standards for mutually agreed product categories and/or standards. Samsung’s LED testing laboratory is the first in Korea to earn the ACT accreditation for automotive LED component testing in compliance with the standards IEC 60810:2014, UL 8750, AEC - Q102.
“TÜV SÜD is a world leading testing and certification company with over a century of automotive safety and performance experience. We are pleased to award an ACT certificate to Samsung Electronics’ LED testing laboratory. This accreditation will be helpful for vehicle components manufacturers to enter global markets, securing technical competitiveness,” said Stefan Rentsch, CEO and President of TÜV SÜD Korea.
In 2015, TÜV SÜD and Samsung Electronics signed an agreement to extend the certification support to Samsung’s LED customers. The companies have been working in collaboration several years to facilitate the testing and certification processes for global LED luminaire manufacturers.
