At Hannover Messe 2016, TÜV SÜD showcases its services for ensuring the reliability and safety of networked smart production processes and systems. The focus topics at the stand of the SmartFactory KL e.V. technology initiative are the initiative’s involvement in the world's first Industry 4.0 factory and the development of a modular certification scheme for smart-factory components. The smart factories of tomorrow will have a modular structure. Relying on standardised interfaces and cutting-edge information technology, they will support highly flexible, automated "plug & produce"-type manufacturing. As a member of the SmartFactoryKL technology initiative, TÜV SÜD provides support throughout the development and continuous improvement of the first independent Industry 4.0 production facility, which is the result of a joint project by various companies. The experts from the international provider of testing and certification services and other partners of the SmartFactoryKL initiative join forces to address issues such as interface standards, interoperability, functional safety and IT security for the entire system.
"As part of our involvement in the SmartFactoryKL initiative, we are currently developing a new, modular certification scheme for flexible plant structures", says Dr Armin Pfoh, Chief Technologist Digital Service at TÜV SÜD. According to Dr Pfoh, the crucial advantages of modular certification encompass significant time and cost savings in the development and operation of Industry 4.0 modular production systems. "In addition, we do not take sufficient note of safety-related and legal issues in modular plant structures at present", warns Holger Allmang, TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH. "These factors pose a potential risk for the placing into service of systems and their operation, which must not be underestimated." The new certification scheme will establish a specific approach that extensively covers the requirements for modular systems and supports implementation of the advantages of Industry 4.0 in industrial practice.
In its Digital Service team TÜV SÜD bundles its training, testing, certification and knowledge services related to the functional safety, reliability and interoperability of technical systems and for IT security, condition monitoring and real-time analysis of industrial facilities.
