History of the Rail Testing Facility in Halle/Saale
The Vehicle Testing Institute of the Deutsche Reichsbahn was founded in Halle in 1952. The institute later moved to spacious new premises in Volkmannstrasse in Halle and established itself from 1960 as the Versuchs- und Entwicklungsstelle Maschinenwirtschaft (Mechanical Engineering Testing and Development Institute), later the Institut für Eisenbahnwesen (Rail Institute).
The route testing department operated five measuring cars for a range of tasks, which were used in rail vehicle test runs on the tracks of the Deutsche Reichsbahn and international routes.
The rapid spread of digitisation and automation throughout all aspects of life and fields of industry enables increasingly complex and interconnected processes and systems to be smoothly controlled – yet also presents safety technology with ever more advanced challenges.
The New Line Copenhagen – Ringsted (NLCR) is Denmark’s first High speed railway which will run between Copenhagen - Vigerslev and Ringsted stations. The objective of the NLCR is to ensure a railway connection from Copenhagen to Ringsted over Køge, and to enable accomplishment of the “one-hour-target”, a political vision for connecting large Danish cities within one hour.
