TÜV SÜD is stepping up its preventive actions in the battle against certificate forgery. From September 1, 2015, all product and system certificates in the field of Medical Health Services worldwide will be issued with a forgery-proof data matrix hologram. TÜV SÜD has launched a comprehensive security package including a QR code and unique Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) to make forgery of certificates all but impossible.
The new hologram incorporates a two-dimensional data matrix code as well as further visible and invisible security features such as microscript. Designed specifically for TÜV SÜD, its tailored combination of state-of-the-art security features delivers outstanding protection at the forefront of technology.
QR code – protection through transparency
The QR code enables users to access all certificate information in TÜV SÜD’s central database, rapidly and simply. The database contains information including the name of the certificate holder, the designation of the certified product, the certificate type, the basis of certification, and the validity period of the certificate. With the QR code, customs officers and market surveillance authorities, procurement officers and users can take out their smartphone or tablet to verify fast and easily whether certificates are genuine and whether their validity period has expired.
Unique certification ID
Every TÜV SÜD certificate is also registered with the global issuing agency GS1 under a unique GTIN, and can thus be clearly and unmistakably identified.
TÜV SÜD’s comprehensive package of security measures thus adds significant value to TÜV SÜD certificates, applies the latest security standards to prevent forgery and guarantees certificate holders the maximum protection against misuse.
