The Commission of the European Union (EU) has recently published two new regulations that modify requirements applicable to two widely-used food additives.
Commission Regulation (EU) 2016/1776 amends current requirements on the use of sucralose as a flavour enhancer in chewing gum. It establishes a new limit of 1200 mg/kg, with lower limits applicable to other flavour enhancers and additives used in conjunction with sucralose. The reduced limits became effective at the end of October 2016.

Commission Regulation (EU) 2016/1814 modifies current requirements regarding specifications for steviol glycosides. Specifically, the Regulation expands the list of steviol glycosides that can be used in steviol glycoside combinations, and resets the defined assay value for each constituent component.
