Combined washer-dryer: Regulation In force (effective since 16 January 2014)
The Ministry of Industry and Productivity Resolution No. 13464, 2013 approves the Technical Regulation RTE INEN 124 on energy efficiency and labelling of combined washer-dryers machines. The energy efficiency and labelling requirements apply to domestically produced or imported combined washer-dryer machines marketed in Ecuador. The energy efficiency class of the product must be calculated in accordance with section 4.2 and classified pursuant to Table 1 of the regulation. In accordance with this regulation, only products that have an energy efficiency class "A" or "B" may be marketed in Ecuador.
Electric storage water heater: Regulation In force (effective since 9 January 2014)
This mandatory technical regulation requires electric storage water heaters marketed within Ecuador to be labelled in accordance with their energy efficiency performance. It applies to water heaters with a power capacity of up to 12 kW. In order to be marketed within Ecuador, these water heaters must meet specific design criteria in accordance with Standard NTE INEN 1912. The methods for measuring the performance of electric storage water-heaters are set out in the current version of Standard IEC 60379.
The products must be sample tested to confirm that they have an ”A”, or ”highest standard” energy rating, so that they can be labelled accordingly. Only products that have an "A" energy efficiency class rating may be marketed in Ecuador in accordance with this regulation.
In addition to the energy efficiency label, the following information must also be included in Spanish on the product:
Manufacturer name or trade mark
Date of manufacture (month and year)
Model and serial number
Volumetric tank capacity in litres
Number of resistors, power and voltage of each
Country of origin
Microwave oven: Regulation In force (effective since 9 January 2014)
This mandatory technical regulation establishes energy efficiency labelling requirements for microwave ovens. It covers domestically manufactured or imported appliances with a rated voltage not exceeding 250 V AC. It does not apply to appliances for heating beverages and foods that are proven to be used in laboratories. It requires the product to meet the safety requirements of the current version of Standard IEC 60335-2-25 on "particular requirements for microwave ovens, including combination microwave ovens". The testing standards to be used to verify conformity are IEC 603325-2-25, IEC 60705, and IEC 62301.
The energy label must be placed on the product in a location which is plainly visible, and must remain attached to the product by an adhesive or other glue material until the product has been purchased by the final consumer.
In addition to the energy efficiency label and relevant safety warning signs, the following information must also be included on the product:
Only products that have an "A" energy efficiency class rating may be marketed in Ecuador in accordance with this regulation.
