The Standardisation Administration of China (SAC) and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) issued Standard GB 4706.18-2014 on the safety of battery chargers on 5 December 2014. This standard is a part of the national mandatory household safety standards as well as other similar electrical appliances.
There are requirements covering electric battery chargers for household use with a rated voltage not exceeding 250V. It also contains requirements for battery chargers which are used by children of at least 8 years of age without supervision.
Based on Standard IEC 60335-2-29:2010, the Standard reflects the contents and form of its international counterpart containing provisions on battery marking and the supply of instructions, protection against access to live parts, moisture resistance, overload protection of transformers and associated circuits, stability and mechanical hazards, clearances, creepage distances and solid insulation, resistance to heat, fire, rusting and radiation, toxicity and similar hazards.
Standard GB 4706.18-2014 will come into effect on 1 January 2016 and replace existing Standard GB 4706.18-2005.
