US: AAFA published its 16th edition of Restricted Substances List (RSL)
The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) published its 16th edition of the AAFA Restricted Substances List (RSL) that covers apparel, footwear, travel goods, home textiles, and other fashion accessories on 15 June 2015.
China: New standard released in China for infants and children textile products
The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the PRC (AQSIQ) and Standardisation Administration of the PRC (SAC) published the national mandatory standard for infants and children textile products GB 31701-2015. This is the first mandatory standard for infant and children textile products in China.
Europe: 163 SVHCs - REACH Candidate List added with 2 new substances
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) published the 13th update of the REACH Candidate List. Two new Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) were added, thus increasing the totla number of SVHCs on the Candidate life.
China: New draft of China RoHS 2 released for consultation
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released a new draft of China RoHS (restriction of hazardous substances), which will eventually replace the existing China RoHS Management Methods issued in 2006. The revised draft has limited to 6 substances and other requirements.
The Standardisation Administration of China (SAC) together with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) issued Standard GB 4706.18-2014 on the safety of battery chargers. This standard is a part of the national suite of mandatory standards on the safety of household and other similar electrical appliances.
China: Standard update for household refrigerators and food freezers
The standard of household refrigerators and food freezers has been updated to GB 4706.13-2014 (former GB 4706.13-2008). It will be in force from 1 January 2016 and the manufacturers can now apply for China Compulsory Certification (CCC) with this new standard.
China: Energy efficiency for domestic gas cooking appliances
The CQC published notice of the updated standard on energy efficiency for domestic gas cooking appliances. The new standard, GB 30720-2014 was published on 9 June 2014 and has come into force from 1 April 2015. In the meantime, the new rule CQC61-448211-2015 will replace CQC61-448211-2009.
Turkey: Energy efficiency labelling requirements for electric lamps and lighting fixtures
The Turkish Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology enacted Communiqué 2015/9, indicating the energy labelling requirements for filament lamps, fluorescent lamps, high intensity discharge lamps, and LED lamps and LED modules. The Communiqué enters into force on 1 July 2015.
