USA: Final rule for formaldehyde emission standards on composite wood products
The rule sets out detailed record-keeping, labelling, and testing requirements for composite wood and products containing composite wood and is intended to help reduce exposures to formaldehyde emitted into the air from certain composite wood products.
On 12 January 2017, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) published the 16th update of the REACH Candidate List. Four new Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) were added. Hence, the total number of SVHCs on the Candidate List increases from 169 to 173.

Mexico: NOM-016-ENER-2016 for electric motors energy efficiency requirements
NOM-016-ENER-2016 came into force on 14 January 2017 for Electric Motors Energy Efficiency Requirements. The standard also states more details on conformity assessment procedure, to facilitate and guide certification bodies, testing laboratories, manufacturers, importers, and marketers how to implement NOM-016-ENER-2016.
